LAIR for PS3 Analog Controls Patch Review
GameGrep

What can you say about LAIR? It was a game that PS3 owners had high hopes for and to say it failed to deliver on the promises of the developer, Factor 5, is a huge understatement. Graphically the game was amazing most of the time with little slow down, gorgeous cut scenes and of course you get to fly a dragon into combat with other dragons. What could go wrong? Well the SIXAXIS motion controls went wrong and in the worst way for gamers. The dragon was almost un-controlable in every way making some of the levels near impossible to complete, random actions seemed to happen as you attempted to fly and fight and the lock on was beyond hit and miss.

Even after the developers failed to admit the controls were flawed, gamers were on the internet asking for a patch to fix the issue. But we were told we just did not get it by Factor 5, disappointed, saddened and frustrated many gamers sold, traded or burned their copy of LAIR and moved on to the next game.

But for those of us who held on to the game with high hopes in our hearts of a patch, had our dreams fullfilled this last week when Factor 5 released an analog patch and free content in the form of two dragons to fly in the form of The Wind and Poison dragons. But was this patch worth the download? Would LAIR move from a game that you had to run away from to a game that was fun? Yes and no.

The controls are so much better the game has become better to play in every way. You can pull 180 degree turns, dive, claw and fight your away with such ease you will be amazed and it does make the game more fun, much more fun in fact I will not sell/burn my copy of LAIR and plan on keeping it. But overall it is too little too late for most gamers. I do not believe most will even try the game again and if they do it will not go beyond a rental. Perhaps a demo will be released with the new controls and gamers will give that a try or just wait for LAIR 2, which I hope is coming, with analog and not motion controls.

Bottom Line – Worth the download if you have the game or will rent it. The game is fun, like it should have been in the beginning

Cash On Demand

Cash On Demand I’ve always been an advocate for cheap and easy...Er...when it comes to gaming, that is. Unfortunately, it’s because of this that I’ve missed out on some of the bigger titles over the past few years. (CoD4, anyone?). Buying used games, ordering online from sites like Amazon or Ebay, is a simple way to avoid high pricing, (at least until you factor in...
