Looking for cool games? Here’s a few you can’t miss! These recommendations are based on what we’ve played during the year or currently playing. Whatever the game you choose, we think that your money will be well spent.

We hope it helps you!

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment

Developer: Naughty Dog

A highly detailed storyline, with explosive cutscenes and extremely satisfying action, this is the perfect companion piece to the original game, not to mention the PS3 itself. Some of the best visuals on offer in a game, and a likeable cast of characters will have your gamer enthralled for hours.

Killzone 2

Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment

Developer: Guerilla

Killzone 2 is THE game your Playstation 3 has been waiting for. While it doesn’t redefine nor re-invent anything in the FPS world, Killzone 2 delivers the excitement but most of all the beauty no gamer has ever seen before. As a PS3 exclusive game, PS3 owners haven’t experienced such a thing since Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune and even the first Resistance game. This game sends a serious message to anyone who wants to release another exclusive game especially designed for the Playstation 3 console.

Batman: Arkham Asylum

Publisher: Eidos Interactive/Warner Bros. Interactive

Developer: Rocksteady Studios

Batman: Easily comparable to classic games such as Eternal Darkness and Bioshock. A game that no one expected to be good and turned out to be one the most impressive, immersive and breathtaking games ever released. The grim set-up mixed with incredible voice-over work and great storytelling makes of Batman: Arkham Asylum, not only the best Batman game ever published but also the best comic-book/superhero videogame so far. Another "must-have" for the mature gamer on your shopping list.

Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition

Publisher: Bethesda Softworks

Developer: Bethesda Softworks

This "Game of the Year" edition includes the acclaimed Fallout 3 game as well as its five downloadable expansions: The Pitt, Operation: Anchorage, Broken Steel, Point Lookout and Mothership Zeta. Do we need to say more?

Demon’s Souls

Publisher: Atlus

Developer: FROM Software

Revolutionary online features support your adventure like never before, presenting seamless interconnectivity that serves in every instance to enhance the single-player game. Team up with two other players in simultaneous cooperative play, working together to topple some of the game’s colossal bosses, or force your way into the games of skilled players and challenge them to PvP battle. Leave hints and clues for those who will follow in your footsteps; either intentionally or through your own inadvertent demise, your bloodstains will allow your successors to view a replay of your death, hinting at how to avoid your gruesome fate.

Recommended for the most harcore role-playing game players only.

inFamous

Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment

Developer: Sucker Punch

inFAMOUS is an open world sandbox game which takes place in a city devastated by a terrorist explosion and now gangs control different areas and it is your job along with your new super powers to solve a mystery, work for a secretive FBI agent and save your own life. Heavily influenced by games such as Crackdown and Sucker Punch’s great game series Sly Cooper and adds a heavy dose of new gaming involving some amazing electrical based superpowers.

Red Faction Guerrilla

Publisher: THQ

Developer: Volition

Bringing the Red Faction franchise to next-generation consoles might have took three years but the final result is astounding. There’s no doubt that THQ and Volition have put all their knowledge, energies and hearts into this project not only to please Red Faction fans who were disappointed by Red Faction II but also to captivate a whole new audience looking for the next great game. By delivering a solid campaign mode, an incredibly vast open world, destructible environments and addictive multiplayer modes, THQ and Volition brings you a high quality game that you can’t miss.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Publisher: Activision

Developer: Infinity Ward

Though MW2 suffers from some of the same faults as its other ‘modern’ predecessor, it’s still a well made package that shows how although no game is perfect, a developer can still put out great work. If you like shooters at all, Modern Warfare 2 is the piece of work this year that you should be playing – like, right now.

God of War Collection

Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment

Developer: SCE Santa Monica

God of War Collection features reworked versions of both God of War and God of War II on a single Blu-ray Disc at full 1280 x 720 resolution. Both critically acclaimed games, which were originally developed for the PlayStation 2, have been remastered with anti-aliased graphics running at 60 frames per second for a smooth gameplay experience, comes with trophy support and with a playable demo of God of War 3. All for !

DJ Hero

Publisher: Activision

Developer: FreeStyle Games

The  price tag is certainly the biggest knock against DJ Hero. People would be tempted to give it a try but at that price, many would be pissed off if they get bored after a week of gameplay. If you identify yourself as a hardcore gamer who deeply enjoys music games, is willing to shed the money and needs a bigger challenge but most of all needs something new, this is the game you are looking for. We have to applaud Activision’s willingness and audaciousness to introduce a new product.DJ Hero deserves a serious look.

Assassin’s Creed 2

Publisher: Ubisoft

Developer: Ubisoft Montreal

Delve deeper into the secret society of assassins with the sequel to the blockbuster action-adventure game. Assassin’s Creed 2 is an epic story of family, vengeance and conspiracy set in the pristine, yet brutal, backdrop of a Renaissance Italy. Ezio befriends Leonardo da Vinci, takes on Florence’s most powerful families and ventures throughout the canals of Venice where he learns to become a master assassin. AC2 retains the core gameplay experience that made the first opus a resounding success and features new experiences that will surprise and challenge players.

Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time

Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment

Developer: Insomniac Games

The venerable Ratchet and Clank series of action platformers has been an important part of Sony’s stable of exclusive games for a number of years. Known for great story, fast-paced action, tricky platforming and, more than anything else, a huge array of crazy, and crazy awesome weaponry Ratchet and Clank have, time and again, saved the universe by shooting or blowing up a sizable portion of it. For fans of the series or for anyone who enjoys a good action platformer, Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time is an absolute must own.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2

Publisher: Activision

Developer: Vicarious Visions

If you owned the original Marvel Ultimate Alliance you will certainly know the value of the series. We probably put in two hundred hours of gaming in the original and I have to say we will probably get the same or more from Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 in the long run. The value of this super hero game is super high.

Borderlands

Publisher: 2K Games

Developer: Gearbox Software

Part RPG, part shooter, all fun. A hardcore gamers dream and nightmare all in one, this gem of a game combines two great genres and makes it into one giant, challenging open world game. With DLC being released and pledged continuing support from developers, Gearbox, there’s plenty to love about Borderlands. A word of warning, however: Make sure the person you’re buying this for is willing to trek online, as single player can be a little on the difficult side. That said, if you know someone who loves a challenge, this is one game that’s sure to provide it.

Dragon Age Origins

Publisher: Electronic Arts

Developer: Bioware

Hardcore RPG fans, your best choice for the holiday season is here. Bioware is a company that know how to make RPG’s, and make them right. Challenging, rewarding, with an in-depth stats, weapons and items system, there’s enough here to keep you busy for weeks on end. With DLC support on the way, this could in fact be the gift that keeps on giving.

MX vs ATV Reflex

Publisher: THQ

Developer: Rainbow Studios

Releasing the game this late in the year is a double edged blade: either you take the chance to release it during the busy time of the year and go completely unnoticed or release it later and face the fact that people might skip it. Still, hardcore riders won’t want to miss the rendez-vous but newcomers (and those who have heard of the game but are still unsure if its worth it) should definitely keep a few extra dollars aside. The game is worth every one

Need For Speed SHIFT

Publisher: EA

Developer: Slightly Mad Studios

The Need for Speed franchise has grown up. Dropping the street racing concept and moving to be a legit racing "simulation" was a good move. The people who bought the first 3-4 very popular games, aren’t 17 years old anymore, they are in their mid-late 20’s and wanting something more from their racing games. Need for Speed is moving with its player base and it is a move for the better.

WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2010

Publisher: THQ

Developer: Yukes Media Creations

Smackdown 2010 is definitely the game to grab then. An incredibly immersive and surprisingly deep customization system not only lets them design the characters the way they want, it also allows them to create entire stories and share them over the internet. Not feeling overly creative? Check out what others are uploading, or compete in the various other modes available. Get ready to layeth the smacketh down in what is the definitive wrestling title of this generation.

Fight Night Round 4

Publisher: EA Sports

Developer: EA Canada

Fight Night Round 4 can easily be described as “the most accessible and yet challenging boxing game ever created”. The fighting mechanics have been revamped and refined to please hardcore boxing gamers but EA Canada has also found a great way to make the game incredibly less frustrating to newcomers as well. Yes, the online matchmaking world remains a daunting place to be however what the game has to offer besides that makes up for it. If you grew tired of FN Round 3, this new chapter in the Fight Night series is definitely worth the upgrade.

UFC Undisputed 2009

Publisher: THQ

Developer: Yukes Media Creations

If you’re a MMA fan, UFC 2009 Undisputed is a great game that wonderfully captures the nuances and multi-faceted aspects of MMA combat. Those who aren’t familiar with the UFC will still enjoy the game as well; the game engine is well-crafted and offers a great simulation of hand to hand combat. It would have been easy to create a simple button masher and slap the UFC label on it. Instead THQ has created a detailed fighting engine that not only is a blast to play but gives you wonderful insight into MMA combat.

MLB 09 The Show

Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment

Developer: SCEA San Diego

MLB 09 The Show continues to set itself apart from the other MLB games on the market with its attention to detail and unparalleled gameplay. Looking to build on that reputation, the game has added several new features and subtleties that play a huge role in bringing the baseball experience to life. Incredible stadium detail and signage, wear and tear on the field, dusk to night lighting transitions, and stadium JumboTron animations help immerse users in the ultimate baseball experience. MLB 09 The Show is the best baseball game on the market.

The Beatles Rock Band

Publisher: Electronic Arts/MTV Games

Developer: Harmonix

If the Rock Band franchise managed to interest non-gaming adult audiences into buying music/rhythm games, The Beatles: Rock Band will not only do the same but it will also reach out to the very last folks who up until now did not care about playing with plastic instruments in front of a television. If games like Pong and Super Mario Bros. managed to pike the interest of mom and dad to play with their kids in the living room, there’s no doubt that The Beatles: Rock Band will make the rest of the family join in and have a great time.

Band Hero

Publisher: Activision

Developer: Vicarious Visions

A great track list for that’s more family friendly, and one that offers the same great gameplay as Guitar Hero 5. Perfect for those who’ve not given the riff heavy Guitar Hero games a shot, and prefer a more pop-friendly setting.

Guitar Hero 5

Publisher: Activision

Developer: Neversoft

New features, new gameplay modes and with the possibility to expand your Guitar Hero library through downloadable content and disc ripping options with World Tour & Smash Hits, Guitar Hero 5 is certainly a must have if you are a fan of music rhythm games.

LEGO Rock Band

Publisher: Warner Games

Developer: Traveller’s Tales

Players will become rockers as they embark on a journey to stardom that the whole family can enjoy as they work their way through local venues, stadiums and fantasy locations on Earth and beyond that mimic the imaginative settings that the LEGO world offers. Also continuing the LEGO “build-and-play” gaming experience, players will be able to create their own LEGO Rock Band style as they customize their minifigure avatars, band and entourage, including roadies, managers and crew.

Trivial Pursuit

Publisher: Electronic Arts

Developer: EA Bright Light

Fans of the old school board game will be pleased to know that the digital age has not forgotten how good those games were. Bringing them into a new medium that’s simple and fun to use make this easily recommendable for anyone who still enjoys having family game nights. As an added bonus, there’s no need to keep track of any dice, or pie pieces, and no board to have to clear space for.

Singstar Queen

Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment

Developer: SCE Studios London

Singstar Queen is the most fun, challenging and rewarding experience to appear on a Singstar game line-up. If you’ve got a Queen fan who just has to belt out the lyrics to Another One Bites the Dust every time it’s on the radio, definitely snatch this up, as it will satisfy their craving for Queen, and let’s them sing along to some of the bands biggest hits.

LittleBigPlanet: Game of the Year Edition

Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment

Developer: Media Molecule

Featuring everything that made the original game so endearing, the Game of the Year Edition also adds in 18 new level maps, the Animal Packs costumes for Sack Boy, and interviews with the team. If you’ve got a gamer on your list that hasn’t checked out this endearing little title, the Game of the Year Edition boasts more of a good thing that they likely won’t be able to resist.
