Fans of San Jose...you can start buying champagne and cigars because according to our NHL 08 Play-off Simulation, your hockey team would win the Stanley Cup, making it stay in the west coast after a one year stay in Anaheim. In the Finals, San Jose went on to beat the Montréal Canadiens in 6 games to win the trophy. Joe Thornton was named MVP and won the Conn Smythe Trophy. Prior to the Stanley Cup Finals, the Sharks would eliminate the Calgary Flames in 6, the Dallas Stars in 6 and the Detroit Red Wings in 7. Meanwhile, Montréal would eliminate the Boston Bruins in 5, the Washington Capitals in 6 and the Pittsburgh Penguins in 7.
We did a second simulation, just to check up things...and surprisingly, the Sharks would win it again, only this time against the Pittsburgh Penguins...in 7! In our two simulations, Montréal was the only canadian team to pass the second round. The Calgary Flames would lose to San Jose while the Ottawa Senators would be crushed and humiliated by the Crosby & Friends Show.
