As the zombie infection spreads uncontrollably and the undead outnumber humans, a small band of heavily equipped gunslingers set out to destroy as many zombies as they can and try to save any of the remaining survivors in Zombie Apocalypse. Up to four players can try and stop the zombie apocalypse with an arsenal of deadly weapons, such as an assault rifle, flame thrower, or grenade launcher, and when ammo is low a chainsaw will be your last line of defense against becoming one of the undead. This action packed, arcade-style shooter will test your dual analog stick shooting skills and ability to survive 55 days of relentless zombie attacks. Multiplayer action: Spill zombie guts side-by-side with up to four players in online or local multiplayer. Devastating weapons: Burn, saw, and dismember the undead with ten devastating weapons. Fatal hazards: Butcher the walking dead using jet turbines, wood chippers, and other fatal hazards. Survival strategy: Survive over 50 stages of brutal carnage in seven brain-splattering locations. Bonus game modes: Re-live the apocalypse with seven challenging unlockable game modes.

Gameplay
Zombie Apocalypse follows the standard two stick action shooter we have played for several years and it works well. You carry a standard machine gun with unlimited ammunition and you can pick up various other weapons with limited ammunition such as shot guns, machine pistols and Molotov Cocktails. These weapons work well but your standard weapon is no slouch and can quickly blow off the arms and legs and heads of the zombies who are lumbering after you.
You and your co-op companions are not the only survivors, as you play the game a survivor will run out from hiding and if you touch her, you must defend her for a few seconds until a helicopter can pick her up and take her to safety. Luckily the reward for doing this is worth it as an explosive teddy bear filled with Zombie Bait is something you can pick up. Throw this and the zombies will run towards it and be killed when it explodes. This is very similar to the pipe bombs in Left 4 Dead, just one of the noticeable similarities between the games.
The multiplayer is both 4 player Co-op online and offline and it works well allowing for you and some friends to blast their way across the 55 days or levels and 7 game types (unlockable). Like most games like this having friends makes the experience easier for the most part if your friends do not run and die quick.

Graphics and Audio
The graphics and audio of the game are good, they are not outstanding or anything I could call revolutionary by any means, but they do their job well. Zombies lose limbs, blood sprays everywhere, they shuffle and run like zombies and even start on fire. The overall differences in all the zombies is noticeable so you know if you get grabbed by one of them you will be screwed and the special effects for fire, electrical and lighting adds to the game. The level design is not well done as each level is a square with different set pieces. This is sad because if more effort went into the actual level design the game would have been more fun.
While the audio is good for the most part the entire audio does not take any chances. The little bit of voice work is good but cliché, the sound effects are standard and fail to impress on a wide scale and what little is left audio wise I have to say just does not do enough to move the scale to a higher score.

Value
The value of Zombie Apocalypse is low because of the limited levels and lack of overall variety gameplay wise. While it is fun to play with friends I have to say the single player side of things is short lived and something you will blow through very quickly.
Bottom Line
This action shooter is done well but lacks any long term gameplay value so I have trouble recommending this game as a buy at its current price. If it dropped down to 400 MS points (5 dollars) this would be one of hell of a game to own and something zombie fans could play with their friends.
