Three U.S possible destinations also hinted

According to an exclusive interview conducted by Montréal-based newspaper La Presse (article in French), Square Enix plans to open a new 100+ employee development studio in 2012.

The Japanese firm, who owns Eidos Montréal since its merging with Eidos Ltd. in 2009, tasked Eidos Montréal managing director Stéphane D’Astous to helm the project. You guessed it, Montréal is being considered. Toronto and Vancouver were also named as top runner-ups.
"The negotiating process has begun," said D’Astous. "However, each city has its advantages. Vancouver has an interesting pool of available talent with all the studio closures. Toronto is excessively business-oriented. Montreal has an established reputation and great creative potential."
Canada may be a good but D’Astous also studied Raleigh, Atlanta and Orlando as possible homes for the new studio. Square Enix is expected to make a final decision in May.
