The gaming community in Montréal was taken by storm following Mark Greenshields gratuitous comments on Montréal and their influence in the industry. Yesterday, Game Focus posted Eidos Montréal’s Stéphane D’Astous reaction to the whole thing. Today, we bring you EA Montréal’s Alain Tascan input on the story.

Joined by phone at his office in downtown Montréal, Mr. Tascan took the same path his colleague D’Astous took by declaring that Greenshields inappropriate comments didn’t reflect the actual situation in Montréal.

Responding to his comment on how companies needed to have bigger pockets, spend a lot of money developing their games and using bigger teams than necessary, Mr. Tascan replied: “Of course you’ll need bigger teams. Gamers won’t play games developed by a team of 4 people. They want satisfaction when they invest in a new game and we need to invest a lot to satisfy their needs. We also spend a lot of time and resources in many multimedia educational institutions around the province  No matter what people say, Québec has a lot of talent and it has a big role to play when it comes down to develop a quality product. I can’t understand why would he go out and say that…”

Army of Two

During our conversation, we took the time to congratulate him and his team on the success of Army of Two and we ask him a couple of questions regarding his game, who was produced in Montréal. “We’re very proud of our product even with the harsh critics we’ve received but in the end, if we have success it’s because of the gamers who went out and bought the game. And they seemed to enjoy it too. They’ll always have the last word.” The game has sold more than 340000 copies worldwide in two weeks since launch day.
